| Stepping Stone House (SSH) is a charity and relies on charitable contributions from the community. These contributions come in a variety of ways including time, money and resources, etc.
These are six major ways in which people can give to SSH (but we appreciate all types of donations) viz:-
1. Volunteering time
2. Donating money
3. Donating resources
4. Donating towards events and activities
5. Donating gifts or towards gifts for young people
6. Join the Management Committee
DONATING MONEY
Donations are an imperative for SSH given that we are not permanently funded by the government. There are no professional fundraisers and administration costs are less than 2%. All donated money goes towards the daily running of the house, providing the young people with necessities like, food, water, electricity, gas and covering staffing costs. These are vital elements of creating a functional, efficient and effective out-of-home care service and therefore all donations are appreciated.

An alternative is to Donate Monthly. When you choose to donate monthly you are not only saving time but you are also saving us money. Providing us with monthly support enables us to reduce our administration costs as well as giving us the financial security to plan ahead. Knowing what we have coming in each month from sponsors, gives us great peace of mind when it comes to allocating funds for outings and social activities with the children.

DONATING RESOURCES
SSH is more than a refuge for young people, it is a home, and like any home it requires resources to function efficiently and effectively. These resources include, but are not limited to:
• day-to-day items – such as knives, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans
• speciality seasonal items – such as fans, heaters, warm weather clothes and blankets
• recreational items – such as balls, bats, skipping ropes and games
• household items – such as cushions, pillows and sheets
• household appliances and white goods – such as electric kettles, microwave, washing machine, toaster, TV and DVD player
• hardware items – such as tools, lawn mower, paint, gardening tools and lawnmower petrol
These items are needed to provide the home-like environment that SSH aims to create, but also to assist in providing the young people with items that their peers are likely to have. This is important as the young people in SSH’s care often feel quite different from their peers and having these items that make them feel more like their friends helps to create a sense of normalcy in their lives.
In selecting these things we like to keep in mind the colour scheme not only of the house but of the tastes of the young people. If you wish to donate new items please contact the manager, Finn Callanan on

to seek clarity of the colour scheme and layout of the house.
If you would like to donate goods to the house, please see SSH’s House Wish List in the Getting Involved section or click the DONATE button now!
The other resources needed by the house are services such as tutoring the kids with school work, teaching musical instruments, doing group workshops on skills such as painting, putting together a CV. We also love it when skilled professionals are interested in spending time mentoring a young person in a particular area of interest, whether it be law or IT, or fashion, the list is endless, as are their dreams. We would love anyone with a skill to come and help the team at SSH to add real experience and as a result increase the quality of these kid's lives.
DONATING TOWARDS EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Boredom for young people can cause issues in their lives and needs to be tackled head on. As such, SSH organises events and activities for the young people on a regular basis, especially during school holidays. These activities sometimes cost money, such as attending performances, visiting places like the Aquarium, going to the movies and recreational sport like ten pin bowling. These events and activities help to alleviate the boredom, but in addition, provide young people with the opportunities to experience new things, sights, sounds, smells and tastes.
If you would like organise and fund an activity, please contact the manager, Finn Callanan on

DONATING A GIFT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
There are times throughout the year, when gifts are customary, Easter, Christmas, birthdays, graduations, Hanukah etc and at these times, SSH likes to provide gifts for the young people. It is important to remember, that the young people within our care usually associate these times of the year with difficult and often unpleasant experiences. SSH likes to make these celebrations fun, joyous and exciting, and presents can add to this experience.
If you wish to donate such a gift for a young person, please visit the wish list in the Getting Involved section, or click the DONATE button.
THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Management Committee to date is made up of ten members. Each member of the committee has been selectively chosen following a nomination procedure. Members of the committee have business experience and working with young people experience.
The committee meets once a month. During the month committee members may: work on applications for community based grants; budgeting; support for manager and staff at SSH; meet with young people; organise maintenance and upkeep of the house; attend social functions at house organised staff and young people; organise social activities, fundraising events and so forth.
The management committee are hands on, seeking educational and vocational opportunities for young people through contacts of their own business and business contacts.
