| Stepping Stone House (SSH) receives no permanent government funding and as such relies heavily on charitable donations and fundraising throughout the year. Through our fundraising we endeavour to communicate the message of SSH and provide an opportunity for new supporters to get to know the staff, volunteers and management committee, whilst raising the essential funds required to continue to provide support for the young people in its care.
Over our first 21 years, SSH has run 3 or 4 fundraisers each year. They include:
1. A Bledisloe Cup (or like) Dinner
2. A Regatta and Bridge Day
3. Victoriana at St Pauls College
4. The Sydney 9km Bridge Run
5. Stepping Stone Annual Gazebo Party
6. Our Newsletters sent in June and December updating and seeking support.
THE REGATTA
We have 26 yachts entered including 4 Farr 40's and Ragamuffin skippered by Syd Fischer. Some of the other participants include Braveheart, sputnik and Impi.
How does it work?
Corporates can sponsor yachts for:-
a. A group for up to 12 guest crew positions for $2,600 ($2000 tax deductible donation plus $600 costs including GST); or
b. A group of up to 10 guest crew positions for $2,200 ($1,700 tax deductible donation plus $500 costs including GST).
Individuals at $200 each ($150 tax deductible donation plus $50 costs including GST) can go on board spectacular yachts to do the 14km course from RSYS, Kirribilli, to Manly and return.
A fun day with many prizes and the handicapping is always something for debate.
Next year's Regatta is 22 March 2012 and enquiries should be addressed to Max Connery at

THE 9KM BRIDGE RUN
The 9km Bridge Run is held in September each year. This run starts in Milsons Point, continues over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, through the Botanic Gardens and ends close to the Sydney Opera House.
For the last 2 years, SSH has entered a “House Team” of about 22 which includes all the residents, some staff and a group of volunteers, management committee members and community members and we seek to raise approx $20,000. This run is not only an excellent fundraiser but also provides SSH with the opportunity to provide our young residents with a fitness regime that has them enjoying the many benefits of physical activity and exercise. In addition, the run provides the young people with a goal to work towards, with competition and gives them a great sense of achievement. It is amazing to see the young people’s faces when they have realised what they have achieved and subsequently what they could achieve in the future if they put their minds to things.
Due to the great success of this event, both as a fundraiser and for the young people, SSH has made it an annual event. For more information and how you can get involved, see Events
THE STEPPING STONE ANNUAL GAZEBO PARTY
In 2009, SSH celebrated its 20th birthday and to acknowledge that achievement a cocktail party was held in the Gazebo Penthouse Suite at Potts Point. Our very generous friends not only donated the stunning venue but also provided art for sale by our wonderful supporter and artist, Libby Firth. It was a warm and happy evening.
Due to the success and enjoyment of this evening, SSH has decided to make it an annual event. The next Gazebo night is sure to be something spectacular. We will advise you all shortly as to when our next evening is to be held.
